Wedding Photo App Pricing: Flat Fee vs. Tiers
Wedding photo apps rarely advertise a single, honest number. What you'll usually find instead is a "free" headline with a asterisk, or a low starting price that only covers the basics. Understanding the pricing model before you commit saves you from a surprise later, usually right when you need the feature that was never included in the first place.
Free tier with paid upsells
The most common model. You get a limited number of photos, watermarked downloads, or a short storage window for free, then pay to unlock what most couples actually need: full-resolution downloads, more photos, or a longer storage window. The free tier isn't really free, it's a preview of the paid product. This model makes sense for the company (low-friction signup, upsell later) but means your real cost is whatever the upgrade costs, not the number on the homepage.
Monthly subscription
Some tools charge a recurring monthly fee, priced for ongoing use even though a wedding happens once. If you forget to cancel after the event, you keep paying for a service you no longer need. Even if you remember, it's an odd fit: you're renting access to your own wedding photos on a monthly basis.
Per-photo or per-guest caps
A tier system based on how many photos or guests you have. Fine if you know your numbers exactly in advance, but weddings rarely go exactly to plan. A guest list that grows by ten people, or a reception that generates more photos than expected, can push you into the next tier without warning.
Flat, one-time fee
You pay once, get everything included, no meter running in the background. The honest version of this model states the price clearly, up front, with no separate charge for full resolution, more guests, or the features that were part of the pitch in the first place.
What to actually compare
Don't compare headline prices. Compare what's actually included at that price: full resolution or compressed, a real guest cap or unlimited, RSVP included or a separate tool, and whether there's a clear end date or an ongoing subscription. A "$29 to start" tool that requires a second purchase for HD video and a third for more guests can end up costing more than a single flat fee that included everything from the start.
Where Twirl lands
One price, paid once: €25. It covers unlimited guests, full-resolution photos and video, voice memos, and the RSVP, all of it, not a subset unlocked later. Nothing recurring, nothing metered. You know the full cost before you've uploaded a single photo, which is the whole point.
